I was involved in an accident in July of 2007 and the other parties insurance company purchased my vehicle. After that I didnt hear anything from them until recently now they are suing me for bodily injury of $1500.00. But I think this is crazy beings they purchased my car from me so they didnt think it was my fault to begin with and now they want to sue me for bodily injury?

They wouldn't have purchased your car from you, if you were named as the at fault party in the accident. Your insurance company actually "purchased" your car. Because you were the driver that caused the accident, they are now coming after you for the BI claim. Have you discussed this with your insurer?

Well something is not right. The not at fault party's carrier does not offer to buy your vehicle (you are the claimant). I believe either you are confused or they are. If as you say, you were the "not at fault party"-the other driver's carrier would buy your car in the event of a total loss, plus pay out BI if you were injured. It makes no sense that if you already settled the claim with this insurer, that they would then come after you 2-3 years later for a BI claim that they accepted liability on behalf of their insured. Again, have you brought this up with your insurer?

Not with my insurance NO. I didnt even go through them. I contacted the other parties insurance and they came out totaled my car sent me a check and I didnt hear anything else on it, until now. They are suing me for BI for their insured so I am assuming their insured sued them. But when they purchased my car didnt that end it or can they later come after me like they are?

It would not matter if their insured sued them, they couldn't anyway. Have you talked with this insurer, because as I said, it makes no sense. They found their insured liable for the accident and paid for your damaged property. They settled with you, end of story. Have you even spoken with them about this? Did you report this accident to your insurer (you should have, just as a precaution even though you were not at fault)

I think you might be confused. First, I doubt that have filed suit against you. More likely they have send a letter asking you to pay them. This is a big difference. Have they said why they feel you owe them money? I'm betting we are not being told the whole story here or incorrect information.

You need to ask them why they are requesting money from you and then let us know for more info.
