Yes, for the person who was killed. Most people don't make plans to be murdered.

tcope, so I guess for people who make such plans it is important to know- that if the carrier would have a proof of such plans they won't consider it as 'accidental' anymore. Won't they consider it as a "culpable homicide"?

"culpable homicide" would be suicide and suicide is not considered an accident.

We had a bIzArRe thread not too long ago about accidental death if shot by cops while being served a search warrant. At first I thought it was a made up story but as usual truth is stranger than fiction.

See THIS LINK.

I remember that story, GARY. It WAS a 'strange one, wasn't it? As I was reading it, it was difficult to decide if the money SHOULD be paid out, or not. Asking myself: WHY did a Warrant have to be placed, etc.? I think I posted a story on THAT SPECIFIC thread. ( To make a long story short: A Soldier came back from overseas. His wife planned out an 'accident' for her husband to be in, to get the Life Insurance. Well..............she 'bragged' about this 'accident' to others. YEP...she was arrested on Murder. NOPE...din't get the Insurance money.

I understand that a murder requires a thorough investigation before disbursing the life insurance death benefits. Now, if by any chance the beneficiary is involved in disposing off the insured, then he/she may be out-of-luck with the benefits. However, if the insured has got killed in a freak accident, no issues, the insurance company will pay the benefits.

Just want to know what would be the best way to insure my son. I can't put my finger on it; but I don't think he'll out live me . He has a rough lifestyle. Will he be covered by accidental insurance if that's all I can afford? Or do I have to find another type and how fast can I get him covered.

What if a the person insured was murdered because he was beating another person an someone shot him is this still something they would consider accidental death?

An accidental death is one that results from unintended consequences. It could be argued that a person committing (or attempting to commit) a criminal act does not die accidentally.

That's why life insurance is superior to accidental death benefits, because dead is dead, and once a policy is incontestable, it doesn't matter how that person dies. Even the death of a convicted murderer who is executed by lethal injection or any other method, if covered by life insurance, would provide the beneficiary with the policy proceeds.

As a parent of a recent homicide victim who had both accidental and injury insurance is there any recourse for me to collect anything from the insurance company that carried the policies
