If he has had tickets and they post to his license with point due to his driving then absolutely. The insurance co should check their license every once and a while (at least when you first get the policy and when you renew) to check for tickets and points and other issues with the persons license.

As long as he can aviod being into a trouble for driving under influence or get into an accident, his premium rates would remain unaltered. But as Chad has mentioned if the violations go into his report, those would certainly affect his premium rate on the auto policy.

there is a clear law (alcohol exclusion law) which says that if a person found drunk while driving and if there is an accident then the insurer can deny the claim.

I suppose this awareness will surely give better understanding to refrain from driving while one is drunk, forget about the insurance premium hike, here person will not get any claim only.......if he continue to do the same mistake again .....

Insurance premium will not be affected by the bad records of the driver. It is always the same and only vary by your car value, not the driver. But if the driver is having bad habit like drunk while driving, the damages hapended to the car accident, will not claimable as the rules stated.

Some people even having car insurance policy even they don't own a car, so, premium is not affected by driver or people.

If i am not mistaken, insurance premium payable values will not be affected by the bad records of the driver. But then if the driver is having bad records on claiming many times in accident claims. Insurance company may not accept his re-purchase of the insurance plan. He might need to always find for new insurance company.

Don't know what you mean by a 'bad driving record'. I'm sure once he meets with an accident or hurts someone things will be different, more so when he's drunk. DUI has severe penalties when tracked. A carrier may even choose not to cover such an individual under certain circumstances. Steven

Driving record is one of the biggest factors in determining auto insurance premiums. Points, accidents, tickets and even dui or dwi can raise insurance rates. There are many other factors but these or just a few.

WHAT? Are you kidding? of course premiums are affected by poor driving records...........

WHAT?Eddie this (like amits) is incorrect information....where on earth are you guys coming up with this?

Please do not post answers to questions if you are not 100% certain they are correct...This site has a great reputation and we do not want to start filling threads with inaccurate information. Thanks
