| I had a slide off and got two estimates. The two estimates were withing fifty dollars of each other. The insurance company was willing to pay one company 110 dollars more than the other. I looked over the estimates and no major differences were visible. How is this possible? The guy I want to do the work was the lower approved amount. My concern is that the shop may still try to save the 110 dollars one way or the other!!!!!!!! |

You are not clear on this situation. I'm not sure how many people you are talking about.
You have 2 estimates, one is $50 lower then the other. Then your insurance company is willing to pay $110 more then what? What is your insurance basing this +$110 payment on? Is the insurance company paying $110 more then the lower estimate at the place you want the work performed? If so, I don't see the problem.
The insurance company should be confirming that the place _you_ want to take the vehicle can repair it for the amount they are paying. |

| If I understand this, the insurance company is going to overpay the repair company about $110. I fail to see the problem. |

Hi Philip, please elucidate the query, I'm unable to locate a problem in these posts.
You have got two estimates from two body shop and they are very close to each other, well, that may be because both of them have to fix the same damages on the car. Moreover, the labour charges of the area is same for both of them. The repairing costs also depend upon the location of the body shop. If both these body shops are located at the same locality they may charge the same for repairs.
Now, why does it bother you that the insurance company will pay the repairer who's charging more? Please explain the situation with more details....may be we are missing something here

Most likely 110 shop caught something that 50 shop did not...post both estimates and let me have a look _________________ "Never, never be afraid to do what's right, especially if the well being of a person or animal is at stake.
