Hello Lisa, if you feel that you would be better off by buying back the totalled car, go ahead!

A totalled vehicle isn't always worthless. It may make sense to retained the vehicle at times. But, please let us know more about your situation. May be we can offer some guidance.

Why would anyone want to BUY BACK a totalled car?! They can't drive it if it's in that condition,..obviously. Maybe use it for parts, etc.

sdchargersfan,

There are many good reasons.

One reason would be...

If my old full-size 1986 Dodge Maxi -van was ever totaled and taken away from me, in exchange for the $$ an insurance co. thought it was worth I'd be S.O. Luck. Those big old rugged vans are getting hard [darn near imposable] to find up here in the Rust Belt. Sooooooo I would certainly pull it into my shop and do whatever it took to put it back in the road.

When I hook my 39 year old 24 foot long camper, full of camping gear, to the back of my 20+ foot long Van (also full of camping gear) I need that 360 cubic inch V8 engine to pull it all up one side and then down the other side of about five mountain tops to its Summer time camp site. And then back Home in the Fall.

Well.....good point. If an 'antique' ( lack of a better word) mean that much to me, I would prabably do what I could to keep it, too.
