Is CAR policy subject to cancellation? The policy is silent about cancellation and a case of double insurance with two different reinsurers has come up. One of the insurer is asked to cancel the policy. Should it be cancelled on short period basis and as per what scale?

yes and it can be cancelled by the insurer but that too only within 1 month from the issuance of the policy.

Are you trying for any claim?? or just want to get rid of the insurance policy? please elaborate!!

There's no claim as on date. Its two months after the policy is effected. Only now the client has realised the double insurance and hence wanted to cancel one of the policy.

IS there any hard and fast rule that no refund can be made or it should be made on pro-rata basis only or short period basis only?

you can cancel immediately the auto insurance. But i do not think that you will get any reimbursement of the premium from the insurer. So if you agree with the loss of premium amount you had paid then within few days your policy can be cancelled.

I do not find any fault on insurer's part so in this case they (insurer) should not be held responsible for the incidence and thus even if they do not return the premium amount to you still they are right on their view.

Maybe this is something I'm not understanding. Do you have 2 DIFFERENT Insurance companies..or..2 DIFFERENT people who insured the auto? I'm just trying to 'get this straight'.
