Embarassed

I know I messed up, I was planning on renewing soon but I kept pushing it off.
This is my first offense, I had an accident back in 2008 (insured though) otherwise my record is clean.

After I got pulled over I got insurance lol I know lame. I decided on puttin off fixing my roof because I figured it would look better if I had it.

I'm pretty nervous though. I'm trying to find out what will happen and I can't find anything. Usually in IL they take your license when you're issued a ticket but I got mine back. I was told it's a $500 fine, which sucks but again I messed up.

Any ideas what I'm looking at? the closer my court date is the more nervous I get. I just would really like to have an idea. I've never even been to court before Sad

rock island county if it matters. I think my insurance card says it went into effect the day after I got my ticket though. Not sure if that matters or not...I wasn't hoping to fool the judge lol I know they're not stupid, it's obvious I got insurance that day.

Be prepared to spend a few hours in court. Dress nice and don't wear a hat or sunglasses in court (I'd suggest a short and tie or the like for a female). Traffic judges have nothing better to do then to insult people in their court room. Let the judge know you understand you made a mistake. Own up to it. Take your insurance card and show the judge that you did the right thing and obtained insurance the day after the ticket.

The judge will ask you how you plead. This is up to you... probably no contest (Nolo Contendere) or guilty. You probably want to pleas Nolo Contendere and ask the judge if there is anything that he/she can do for you.
