| Quote: | | Right now I have only ONE vehicle. So..I'd probably have to insure him under me..right? | When has his license and is driving your car then you need to add him as a 'driver' under your policy...(grab your well you know re: cost) that will cover him on your vehicle and any other that he would drive that DID NOT have insurance on it. Which of course he would NEVER do... | Quote: | | Now...what about if my son drives his dad's car...does his dad have to insure him? | No, he doesn't need to if he is not a resident of his dad's household...(you have custody right?) or unless dad gave him the car for his use and his (your boys) use only... | Quote: | | If I have my son 'covered', is that good enough when he drives someone else's vehicle? | yes, your coverage will follow him SECONDARY to any coverage on the vehicle...just like if you drove my car, (i loaned it to you - you are a permissive driver) You have an accident my policy (policy on the car) is primary, and pays for everything, your's is only secondary...which rarely kicks in honestly.. | Quote: | | Hope you understand the question. | Yes, I get it. Once again your Ex gets off scott free (doesn't have to pay the increased premium for a teen and a teen boy to boot!) _________________ "Never, never be afraid to do what's right, especially if the well being of a person or animal is at stake. | .............so,..it COULD go the other way around. His dad pays for the Insurance 'hike' on HIS( EX's) vehicle and HIS (EX's) insurance would be 'Secondary' if my son drives MY car? I have Prmary Custody of my son..yes. However.......I just feel like it's HIGH TIME my EX 'contributes' SOMETHING to my son...know what I mean? |

Well, I emailed several insurance companies and so far I found out that State Farm & Allstate consider your learners permit teen driver to be covered under your existing policy and no additional premiums are charged until your teen gets their license. _________________ Register Now to have your Insurance queries solved. |
