| Most likely you would be at fault, unless you can show that the other person stopped for no good reason. I doubt that is going to happen. People usually don't just stop once the light turns green. Your negligence would be following too closely and/or not maintaining control of your vehicle. |

I'm really surprised..don't know if it had been a machinery fault with the other vehicle! Or could it be an instant stop due to the inefficiency of the other driver? Lets see what the others have to say. _________________ Register Now to have your Insurance queries solved. |

| Usually if you hit someone from behind it is going to be your fault. Sure the vehicle could have been defaulty but the other driver should still have been far enough behind to be able to stop. Around here drivers really get under my skin because they don't know how to use a turn signal or slam their brakes on last minute to make a turn. It happens alot and thankfully I have never hit someone from behind. I always try to stay far enough behind a person so if something like this happens I am not going to hit them. |

I'd agree with fireyone... if I had to rank the cause of accidents I'd say following too close ranks #1 and turning left in front of people ranks #2.
There is almost never a good reason for rear ending someone. It almost always means the person was following too close and/or not paying attention. As fireyone mentioned, maintaining a good distance from the car in front avoids many of the most common causes of rear ended accidents. Also, it's such a simple thing to place an extra 10 or 20 feet between you and the vehicle ahead. |

| Yes, I really hate those people who ride someone butt. I use to let them make me nervous but I figured if they wanted to take the risk it would be their fault if they hit me. Keeping an extra distance should be done at all times but some do not do it at all or they only do it during bad weather. |

I was truly amazed to see how a neighbor had passed the driving test the 2nd time even without attending a re-training session for a considerable period. I just saw him re-training for a couple of times only!
So, you see how irresponsible people would drive past you now-a-days!
