A salvage title typically (and I'm sure I will be corrected if I'm wrong!) reduces the value of the vehicle by 25%. Rather than focus on the blue book value, which is commonly agreed upon as not near as useful as NADA, you need to think about a few other things.

-Why does the vehicle have a salvage title? What type of damage did it sustain? Flood? Fire?

- Was the vehicle repaired properly? Who repaired the vehicle?

- Will you have any trouble in your state registering a vehicle with a salvage title?

Other things that will influence the value of the vehicle include options, and all the other choices you have when filling out the blue book questionnaire (automatic or manual, which engine, etc.)

If you need any more specific help, I know there are several adjustors on the site that could give you a pretty good estimate of the real value!

Hi Dave,

Yes, a salvaged title bears a permanent effect on the worth of the vehicle. The rule is to lower BB value by 20-40%.

Now, don't you think in order to know the correct market value of a vehicle that bears a salvaged title it should be evaluated separately?

Do you want to know about the value to determine whether or not you would have insurance on it?
