if i rear-ended someone (no injuries) in orange county, california, and then came to find that my license had been suspended 1 week prior by DMV for uncleared fix it tickets from 3 months ago, will my insurance cover the accident? Do they check on the license status in these cases?

A few adjustors will be along shortly to provide their insight, but I have a couple questions in the meantime.

What were the fix it tickets for? If they were for modifications that rendered the vehicle unacceptable for road use, then your insurance company may not cover the accident for those reasons!

I've heard a lot of different things regarding the license status, but I don't want to share them as I really am not sure of the correct response. Hang in there...help is coming! Lori? Tcope?

Why was your license got cancelled?

I guess that you would be fined on the spot for fix-it tickets. Have you not paid the fees?

Was there any other violation which is unresolved?

Come on now, you knew they were going to (or did) this...They can't just suspend a persons license without letting them know it.. Rolling Eyes

Yes, most likely unless your policy has some wording to the contrary. I've not seen a CA policy...but have in my state paid many a claim where the insured (for a variety of reasons) didn't have a valid license...

Doubtful, most wouldn't. But again, it depends on the wording of your policy. Also the police report will most likely have this information on it.

Have you turned in the claim to your carrier? Have you taken steps to get your license back? If not, you should do this NOW...
