If no one find out, it won't of course.

So the real question is how the insurance company would find out. Two of the easiest ways is if he's in an accident or if he receives a citation. If his licenses is suspended due to a driving issue, then either of these are likely (as there is no lesson learned if the punishment is not to drive and he's allowed to drive anyway... which raises the issue of parenting but that is another topic).

If the insurance company finds out that an unlicensed driver is driving the vehicle, you can be assured that in the least your policy will not be renewed. At worst, if your son causes the accident your insurance policy may be rescinded which means it won't provide you or your son coverage and premiums for that period will be returned. It really depends if fraud on your end is involved (if you were asked about anyone over a certain age in your household and you did not tell them about your son, etc.).

Sorry Anne just gotta ask...girl what are you thinking allowing this to happen? How old is this boy? why is he suspended? and why are you letting him (potentially) ruin you financially?

My words EXACTLY, LORI. If you KNOW he has a suspended license, ANNEKEY, then why let him drive it? If HE gets into an accient, I would almost bet YOU would be the one paying for just about everything. Your insurance would REALLY 'take a skydive', that's for sure. there is a neighbor that CONSTANTLY asks to use my car....he has no license. NO WAY, I tell him. then, he gets mad, etc. I don't care. It's the only vehicle I have. He never told me WHY he lost his license. Just keeps saying "'they' made a mistake." Well.........if I REALLY believed that, then why doesn't he have it? Gosh..........don't get me started. LOL

It may ruin you in every possible way. The other members very correctly have evaluated the consequences that you might face by allowing your son to drive the car with suspended license.

Depending upon the state you are residing you may even face a lawsuit if the boy cause an accident while driving the car. And since he isn't a named driver under your insurance plan the insurance company might even deny to cover the claim. Hence, if you can just stop him from driving the vehicle, do it right now before you face the harsh reality.

if you can

Jeorge ''if you can stop him'' wouldn't be an issue at my house, I'll tell you what.! :)

OH YEA!!! I agree with LORI. This wouldn't even BE an 'issue', if you lived with me. Why would you put yourself in that 'position'? I know I wouldn't. ANYTHING can happen. I think you really need to 'enforce' that........if you don't have a license, you don't drive!!

It wasn't an issue at my house either..I never let my son have his license due to irresponsibility. One wrong move could really ruin a persons life. My hubby recently lent our vehicle to an unlicensed driver and I threw every fit under the stars and eventually went and got the vehicle (s). I ran into the guy at a christmas party this week end and he had the nerve to ask me "what my problem was"...I really let him have it..at least he didn't get my house and everything else my hunny and I worked hard for. That could happen very easily whether you lend the vehicle to an unlicensed driver!

fireyone,

I think I would have addressed the whole party, asking, "Is there anyone here that would loan the car to an un-licensed driver??"

Then [one should suspect] when everyone yelled *NO*, he might finally see the light.

But then... likely not. He does sound a bit dense.

Ok, ok, I know what the Mama's mean here  but a teen may become a pain at-times. It's not always that he/she will seek your verbal permission, but may consider his/her access to the car as a right.

Why would you dare allow him to drive while his license is suspended? Do you realize the consequences that he could face if he gets pulled over? Your insurance company will not pay for any damages he causes, since he is driving illegally. This is a serious offense and is the same class as a DWI in some if not all states. He could face jail time and hurt his chances of getting his license back at all if not delayed at the very least.
