My son had a wreck in one of my vehicles, he hit 2 cars. Now the department of motor vehicles asked me to send them proof of insurance, I did that. Afew weeks later I got a post card stating they received it. Now a few weeks later I received a letter to my son stating his license were suspended and I received a letter stating that both my vehicles have had their plates and registrations supended for no insurance.
I have went by my agent to rectify this problem and have been given a paper showing that they paid 9660.27 on the accident. They have requested a letter head from my insurance company and they have been promised it everyday for a week that it would be there the next day.
Maybe I owe more on the accident, I haven't heard anything just those letters. My agent claims I will be getting everything straight but I think I'm being played. I live in Florida and have 2 vehicles that I'm paying insurance on that I can't drive. Any suggestions?

I'd suggest that you check out the things with the DMV department. And show them the proof of insurance that you have got. Also get hold of the copy where the insurance company shows that it has paid for the damages.

Your son might have got the license suspended for the severity of the accident. Jus hang tight someone might be shortly around with suggestions.

If your company has paid for the accident it might have got hold of the document that will state that you don't owe to the affected parties for the damages in the future.

Just check with the insurance company whether or not the policy was on force at the time of accident. It might have happened that the other drivers have turned their claims respective to their insurance companies and their insurance companies has find out that you were without coverage during that period and eventually have reported the same to the DMV.

The state laws of Florida state that your driving license and/or driving plate may get revoked for three years if you fail to produce the proof of financial responsibility at the time of need.

I too will go with Jeremy, check out whether or not there was la lapse in the coverage during this period. You should immediately contact with the insurance company to find out the fact.

I am surprised your insurance company/agent isn't taking care of this all for you and in a quicker manner. If your agent lives close I would go diredtly down and demand that they do something quickly. Also get a copy of everything and send it yourself.. If it is the carrier that is holdong things up I would get this taken care of and then think about finding a new one.

Hi, My policy has never had a lapse in the policy and they have already paid 9660. on the wreck.I once again stopped by my insurance agent's office and she requested this letter for me again while I was there. The insurance company told her they would be faxing it to her in 10 mins. I waited there an hour, She called again and she was informed that they were in the middle of writing the letter and answering calls.
My agent is a great person but I will be back up there tomorrow around three and calling too to see if it was faxed. But my insurance company can't be that busy that in a 10 day span, they they can't send or fax a company lettered head statement saying I have insurance.
I tried calling and sending my insurance cards my 6 month policy cover sheet and my receipts to dmv but that isn't what they want. I'm a single parent who drives a radius os 50 miles to work daily and if it weren't for the company I work for letting use their company truck, then I would be out of a job and no legal vehicles to drive. If I don't get my letter tomorrow I guess I will have to go over their heads to the insurance commissioner of florida. I'm just frustrated and tired of the run around.
There are so many people driving with no licenses , no insurance and illegal cars on the road it makes me ill to think I try to do the right thing and I'm getting the run around.

How about filing a complaint against the insurance company with the state's department of insurance? Send the higher official of the insurance company a registered letter stating that you intend to file a complaint against them for non co-operation and mark a copy of the same to the Dept. of Insurance. Hope this would light a fire under their chairs.

Again, when your insurance company has paid for the claim you don't owe anymore to the affected parties. Get a clear answer from the DMV as well regarding their requirement.

If they are THAT busy., then they would be too damn busy to get my premium I tell you what! I wouldn't fool around anymore, this would be the last time, then I would pole vault myself straight to a v.p.....seriously.

i CAN SEE YOUR ANGER AND i THINK IT IS VERY JUSTIFIED. I really like Lori's advice here and I would also call the state dept. of insurance. This is ridiculous. Also I would let the insurance company know that after this is handled I would be switching from their company to another due to this problem.
