tripped over door kick stand when usher did not open the door wide enough. After being examined in the ER, they diagnose a foot contusion. At that time I was a substitute teacher earning $75 per day. Accident occurred on 11-15-2015. I called the adjuster on 6-14-2016, and was told by the adjuster that they paid my medical bill and she thinks my case was close because there was no liability. I did not receive anything in writing from the adjuster re their decision and and reasons for reaching such.Should I confer with an attorney ?

If you want.

The insurance company is required to inform you as to the status of your claim, usually every 30 days. If they did not find liability then they are required to inform you of this in writing. Sometimes if an adjuster does not hear from the claimant they will simply close their claim and hope nothing happens.

I'd recommend that you at least call the adjusters supervisor and ask that they provide you the status of the claim. You can then determine how you want to move forward. If you accept things like, "I think" and such from people other then a person responsible for your claim noting will happen.

Whatever you decide to do, do it quickly. Your loss occurred almost 1 year ago, and some jurisdictions have a 12 month statute of limitations for filing a suit. Wait one day too long, and you are 100% out of luck.
