Total lost car - Settlement charges in the offer letter

by calinhonda » Sat May 07, 2011 03:30 pm

Hello!

A few days ago, my car was declared total lost. I filed the claims with the other insurance. They sent me a settlement offer saying the car is declared total loss. What king of charges should be included in the offer. They included the trade-in price for my car. Are there any other charges which should be included in the offer? Is it mandatory to be included title registration fee of the new car I would buy?

Thanks for help!

How you you know it's the trade in price? I've never seen a company outright pick the trade in value and state that this was the figure they were using. The trade in price is _not_ what the car can be replaced for.

Tax, registration fees, title fees and any other fees associated with buying another car are usually included. In some cases the DMV will transfer your tags from one vehicle to another at no charge.
