What steps do I follow when my insurance company denies my claim?

My friend, I hardly find people pursuing their cause once a claim gets denied. I think about 10% of all claims are wrongly denied and still its only around 1% of such policyholders would follow up! That's one good reason I think, you do stand a good chance of improving your settlements or winning over such cases. What do you think!

A claim isn't denied until and unless its in writing, so please ask the insurer to state the reason for canceling the claim. Next, its important that you know whether or not the reason for the denial was justified. And, for that its important to re-read the policy document and the coverage details to see what you're covered for.

If you're certain that you have been wronged you may have the provision to file a complaint with the respective Department of Insurance of your state against the insurer

Jeremy is correct you should've gotten a letter with the reason for denial, if not call the adjuster and demand one..many claims are denied, people get mad, but the fact of the matter is they are not owed...Some however hare wrongly denied, usually due to inexperience on the adjusters part (wrongful denials)...What are the circumstance? You can always file a complaint with your states Dept of Ins.
