my 98 cadillac was vandalized. the windshied ( I paid out of pocket to fix windshield before noticing the roof and sunroof were damaged as well), roof and sunroof damaged. went to body shop for repair. body shop noticed the car did not come with a factory made sunroof (it was put in by third party). The third party did a very bad job with the sunroof (no knowledge or warranty for sunroof since I purchased it from a dealership). Insurance states the repair is more than the value of the car. I want to keep cadillac it is drivable & not a eyesore. The cadillac has a lien holder. Thoughts?

Well I do not think any insurance company would pay you more than what your car is worth for repairs.

If the amount the carrier can pay is more then the lien then the lien holder might agree to accept the pay off amount from the insurance company and give you the title, allowing you to keep the vehicle. However, the insurance company would pay the value less the salvage value of the vehicle. Also, the title would probably be changed to a salvage title so the value would be reduced.
