I have the employee health insurance coverage. Recently I have been diagnosed with diabetes. Will I need to buy a separate individual heath insurance policy now?

No. Your group health coverage through your employer will cover diabetes. As well, in most states, group contracts MUST cover diabetes, including testing and supplies. Finally, just about every state requires group health to cover what's referred to as a "diabetes self-management course." To be completely accurate, we'll need to know what state you're in.

This is a course which is covered by your insurer that teaches diabetics how to best manage their condition.

You are not required to buy a new health insurance policy. Your group employee health insurance policy will provide coverage for diabetes. Remember you'll be covered if you have Gestational Diabetes Mellitus.

Things that are covered:
1. Diabetes self-management training
2. Diabetic equipment (prescribed by a physician)
3. Pharmaceuticals and supplies (prescribed by a physician)
4. Regular foot care exams
