I have no health insurance and was admitted to the hospital few days back due to severe fever and stayed there for a week. Now I have no money to pay the bills. Whom should I approach for help? My country cannot help.

Which country btw? If possible, then take up a job (part-time or full) and inform the hospital authorities that you'd be repaying the bill in installments, as per your affordability. Strike out a mutually benefiting deal so that the hospital authorities do not come after you running for payments.

There's an old expression, "You cannot get blood from a turnip." If you have no insurance and have no income and have no money, what can the hospital do other than ask for payment?

They can send your bill to a collection agency, which will make your life miserable unless you immediately write back to them and tell them to stop communicating with you as provided for in the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. They cannot throw you in jail or threaten to take your property or seize your bank account, and they cannot continue to contact you by mail or by phone once you demand that they stop communicating with you.

You can always talk to the hospital about a repayment plan, and you can always talk to the folks who run the Medicaid program in your state to see if you qualify. Medicaid can pay bills incurred in the past 90 days.
