My dad is currently unemployed but looking for one. He is finding it hard due to the tough job market. What does this mean as Obamacare is going into effect from next year. I have tried to grasp the thing but it’s beyond my intelligence. I’m not asking your opinion just wanted to know what would this mean for my dad. Thanks is advance.

Most persons in America will be required, beginning January 1, 2014, to have "minimum essential coverage" under a Qualified Health Plan. For those whose incomes are below 133% (or 138% in certain states) of the Federal Poverty Level depending on household size, this will mean an automatic pass into the Medicaid system.

Assuming your father has no immediate prospects for employment in 2014, beginning on October 1, 2013, he may seek coverage through your state's Health Benefits Exchange (or Federally Facilitated Exchange, depending on the state), where his low income will automatically refer him for enrollment in Medicaid, which constitutes the required coverage.

I have tried to grasp the thing but it’s beyond my intelligence.

Unless you were one of the politicians who voted for the PPACA, this is not a true statement. You are simply confused by all of the changes the politicians have caused. That's not your fault.

What would be beyond anyone's intelligence is voting for those same politicians again and again and expecting a different result. Unelect the incumbents every chance you get to vote.
