husband kkidney transplant patient. Disabled since 2002 & covered by city ins plan.prems deducted directly from pension chk each month.City converted ins plan to the NJ SHBP in 9/12 with no change in our coverage. Now they say his coverage will end 6/1/14.How can they do this?? He needs meds just to live that cost $3000+/mo. I don't dare tell him about this canc. notice for fear it would jeopardize his health more. Please help..thank you

Ask the plan administrator about this. Every plan is different and what changes may be made are either governed under ERISA or state law. This is probably an ERISA matter, so you can also speak to the US Dept of Labor, Employee Benefits Security Administration (EBSA).
