I think you can file a claim any time, you will have the medical records to backup your story. I think they just like you to do it sooner than later to get all the facts, but you should be okay yet to file. Take pictures before the swelling or the bite goes away completely.

Good morning Laurie and welcome to the community...

Unfortunately you didn't tell us two very important things we need to know...How long ago did this happen? And what state are you in? All states have statute of limitations. If you are still within the statute you are fine. Of course you should file the claim with your Aunts Homeowners or Renters policy, YESTERDAY. If you have let the statute run, belive me the insurance company will let you know immediatly, they won't even investigate it much....

So file the claim NOW!!

If you would like to provide us with additional information perhaps we can be of service to you....

PS cat bites that break the skin almost always get infected...(ie the antibiotic)...becareful and watch for blood poisioning...(red lines running up your arm)...

. You're fine then (no state has statute of limitations that low! )...find out who aunt has homeowners with and either ask that she file the claim immediately (most companies you can file/turn in claims 24/7). If you turn it in for her will be quicker if you have her policy number if not they will be able to 'index' her under name, address etc. Let us know if we can be of any further assistance.

Just wondering why didn't Auntie already turn this in when it happened?

Looks like you got the information you needed very quickly, I hope all works out for you and this does not lead into something more serious because of your diabetes, keep an eye out for other conditions related and make sure that you document them, date, time and try to take a picture if applicable just to cover all bases. I hope you recover soon and becareful around those cats.
