Auto Insurance Claim

I had an accident earlier this year. I made a left on green but somehow spaced out and failed to yield to the oncoming traffic and was hit by the car. I was at fault and my friend was in the passenger side. I had to pay off the remainder of the car to my lender since the kelly blue book valued it at less. My friend went to visit the doctor to make sure she was okay and although a little sore a couple of days after the accident she did not suffer any other injuries. However, she decided to go see a chiropractor and told me if it was okay to have my insurance contacted to pay for the fees to which i said absolutely. She went a few times and I think her fees were no more than six or seven hundred dollars. However, my insurance paid her the maximum which is 15,000. The check is being cut to her and then she just pays the chiropractor. I'm not sure what was said to my insurance company to make them give up the maximum but i find it hard to believe that they would just give the max that easily. She casually told me today that she was getting that amount. I'm bothered by it and I really don't know what to think. Is it fair that she keep all that money. This is a friend of mine that I have known for almost ten years. And she just said "i think ill probably give you a couple hundred just because"

Well, she presented a BI (bodily injury ) claim against your policy...I can all but guarantee she did not have a few hundred dollars in med/chiro bills and got 15k...there's much more to it than that....(on a side note if your bi limit is only 15k...you need to raise that yesterday...that is WAY too low and leaving you wide open to an excess judgement)...her giving you money is called collusion and against the law...don't go there...!!

Your friend played the system and you and won...simple as that....sorry...you can call your adjuster and they should be able to tell you the medical bills, type of injury etc...but as i said no way she presented even 1k in chiro bills and left with 15k...no way in the world...

They really should not. That is personal and confidential information.

They can tell an insured the amount paid for this or that (if not specifics) regarding what was paid under their policy though Todd...I know with all the privacy you ha ha we have to deal with his carrier may or may not release the exact information, but bet they will say... (ie) , 'we paid 10k in chiro bills' 10k in diagnositics etc'....as an insured I think (we do) they will release altleast a minium of information to him.

First of all, ANONYMOUS...are you ok??? Hope so. You said you "spaced out." Do you know why? I know sometimes I'm SOOO tired, coming home from work, that I just 'space out'. I know someone, who recently had an accident. The accident was "AUTOMATICALLY" her fault ( according to HER insurance company. She was driving intoxicated. Not the FIRST time this has happened to her. NOW...she's trying to blame EVERYONE for not being able to drive to work, etc. She's the type of person who blames anyone she can when SHE does something stupid. I know ALOT of people, like this.
