Ok, so I admit I was tired, last night and saw a new commerical for American Family Ins...it was really a pretty cute and good commerical. Anyway it had the Brady Bunch house in it, and the agent was going to write insurance (all lines) for this family..anyway he goes thru, 'we can protect jr. the new teenage driver for damage to the family car' (and a shot of the big old tank of a station wagon, hitting a road cone or something) etc...then he says about insuring the house, 'in case junior causes damage to the house' (or something along those lines) it was definately the inferance that should Junior (or some kid that is a resident of the household) caused damage to the residence they would cover it...well I've just been racking my brain trying to think how any damage caused to the insured dwelling, by a kid of the household would/could be covered! Any thoughts?...Any fellow adjusters or anyone else that might have a clue about this...? I know if Junior comes to my house and thru his negligence damages my property they have (liability) coverage, (course depending on all the circumstances, and have paid a ton of these claims) but I cannot think of a single thing that would be covered (not excluded) in his own home? Scratchin' my head on this one, probably right in front of my nose, but I'm not seeing it, (and have denied plenty of these claims in my career).... _________________ "Never, never be afraid to do what's right, especially if the well being of a person or animal is at stake. Along the same lines of what has already been mentioned, I know of a property adjuster in a former office who was paying a claim when the a kid burned down his grandmothers house. The grandmother was the legal guardian and the child was living in her house. He was about 10 years old. I'm guessing a younger child (under 13 or 14?) is to young to "intentionally" cause damage?
But I agree, the AmFam commercial does not sound like it was on point. |

Right I would consider those accidents...if I accidently caught my kitchen on fire, it would be covered too...but it made it sound totally different...I haven't seen that commercial since....wonder if someone else caught it as well.... _________________ "Never, never be afraid to do what's right, especially if the well being of a person or animal is at stake.
