| I had a house fire in Feb.The Fire investigator says it is arson. I understand that they want to investigate fully and the first person they will look at would be me. The fire investigator asked if I would submit to a cvsa test and I have no problems doing that. He said he would contact me in 2 weeks. I have never heard anything from him since. I have talked to the Insurance companies investigator and given him everything he has asked for. All I want is my house repaired. Not looking for anything more. Is their any thing I can do to help speed up the process? |

| Speed up the process? Probably not, but I'd call the insurance company and ask what is pending. If it's possible, you could then see about making whatever they need, happen. |

Whats a cvsa test?

Hi ship660,
Would like to find out any possible causes for this delay!
Was it a partial damage? Or is it that the entire house got burnt?

My cousin John had a small house that got fire an year back in Tampa. He knew it would cost the insurance co. more towards rebuilding it, than constructing a new home. That was their cause of delay towards figuring out the loss! Finally, John won..hope so would you!

| It was not a total loss. The fire started in the basement and caused a lot of smoke damage upstairs. I have been calling the adjuster everyday for a 2 weeks now and the last time I talked to her she said all that she has not received all the reports yet. That was about a week ago. This week I haven't been able to get a hold of her. I leave messages and she doesn't return them. A cvsa test is a voice stress test I was told it is like a polygraph test. |

ship6600, have you read up on cvsa tests? Do you think not taking the test will hurt your claim with the insurance company? Are you just willing to take the test because you know you had nothing to do with the fire in any way, without considering the ramifications of the accuracy of the test?
The insurance claim is one thing... taking the cvsa might be something completly different. But failing the cvsa might also then affect the insurance claim. |

| No I have not read up on the test. I assumed it was just like a polygraph test. Is that not the case? I will do it because I know I didn't have anything to do with the fire. Is their something I should know about it? |

| I measures the stress in your voice. I quickly read about them and it seems that there may not be any independent tests to back up their accuracy. One person mentioned that it was about 36% accurate (but how this number was arrived at lacking independent test, I don't know). I'm just saying that you really should be informed as to what is taking place before simply agreeing to everything. |

I agree tcope...big time, there isn't (IMO) enough supporting data on these tests...were I the OP I'd volunteer for a polygraph first (and make sure of the examiners qualifications and years of experience)....
I think that you should call this rep back ask EXACTLY which reports they are waiting on, and from whom, then call those people direct...I've had a couple of insured's over the years do this with great success...If the adjuster doesn't return your calls after leaving two messages, you need to call her supervisor, there is NO good reason for calls to go unreturned...even if she's out a couple of days someone should be monitoring her claims and mail box....
If they are certain it was arson, and started in the basement, how was it started? Does anyone else reside with you? ARe they questioning anyone else?

| Lori asked the question I was wondering about. Was the basement door unlocked? If you have any inkling to who amy have did this you need to tell them. I definately would think twice on the stress test. I hope you haven't already taken it with the accuracy not being very good. |
