Does the Weather really affect sales?

I had an agent tell me that when the weather is bad outside, they try and stay home and not make any appointments or prospect.

But I would think that more prospects would be home in bad weather.

In great weather, they would be out doing more and would be busier, I would think.
If it is raining for example, they could not be outside working in the yards or would be more limited to the things they could do. They might have more time for you.

So, does weather really matter? Do people buy more in the summer then the winter, or on bad weather day’s verses good weather days?

yes definitely. But what if the person is not able to go out of his office then what will be the case?

In my opinion for any lead to convert in to a sale one need to visit the person at least once and the other formalities can be handled by one's assistant or through fax/phone/video conferencing/chat or for that matter any other instrument whichever suits one's personal habit.

But one visit to the customer personally is necessary at any cost and later on the case can be handled by one's assistant.

That's what I was trying to say. thanks amit :!: How can you convert your leads just by sitting in your office? If the customer visits your office to complete all the formalities then you can say it's your good luck

I guess a whole lot of them are simply relying on telesales over here. I think they're considering telesales since it's easier to cover a wider database over the phone.

But how can the insurance agent close the sales just communicating on the phone. Insurance policy is all about paper work. He/she need to visit the customer at least once.

The telephonic conversations would get recorded for further processing with the consent of the customer. Later on the paper work would be sent to the client through mail. That's how things are being followed now-a-days.

Ok...But don't you think it's a bit risky to send the documents through mail?

I think it's more about the type of product that you're selling to your client.

If you're selling umbrellas it would be easier to sell them during the rainy

days than the sunny ones. One the other hand, if you're selling mangoes it

would be easier for you to sell them on a summer day.

Its true !! Due to technological advancement one can request the customer for a recorded version of the conversation.

But as far as my experience goes one will surely get a insurance lead converted through a telephone call into a sale. but when one visit one's customer's place one get new business in terms of his family members needs of insurance i.e. spouse, child, neighbor etc.

but it is not possible to get a new business just by telephonic conversation does anyone agree with me on this front???

It was raining cats and dogs here yesterday, and I was selling.

It is warm and sunny today, and I still will be selling.
