does my policy cover my son

20 year old son passed away several months ago. The policy is in my name with my children as dependents. does is matter if his name was not added to the policy. *I think it a term life policy. Didn't file a claim because I didn't know if he would be covered

Hi Cford,

Sorry, but your question doesn't make a sense to me.

If your son had died several months ago (sorry about the loss, by the way) how would it matter now whether or not he is listed in any policy?

Please clarify yourself.

We are discussing about a life policy here, right? Who is the insured and who are the beneficiaries?

cford,

I am so very sorry for the loss of your son. You're in my prayers.

We need you to clarify this a little better.

Who is the insured on the policy, you or your son? or another way to ask the question...Who's 'life' is insured on this policy? If it's yours then it doesn't matter that your deceased son is not listed as a beneficary. If your son is the insured, then you need to get this claim filed.

Please provide us more information, so that we can be in a better position to assist you.

We are very sorry to hear that.

But with regards to your question, I think you cannot file a claim because you are the one who is insured and not your son. If your son had a life insurance coverage, then you can file a claim. But if he doesn't have.. then you don't have anything to file.

Can you elaborate your question so that the people here can help you with your concern.

If the policy is in your name, how would it cover your son?
He'd only be entitled to receive his share of the death benefit if he's one of the beneficiaries. If not, it would be your other children who will receive the benefits.
