High Rates

Does anyone know a ball park figure for someone who has had their license suspended for one dui. My son really did a dumb thing and he knows it. He was paying high premiums to begin with because of speeding tickets.Well, his rates were just beginning to go down below 300 a month an he did a really stupid thing. He was arrested and charged with DUI. He can now get his license back BUT he has not of yet.I am very afraid if what his rates will be .is there anyway he can get his rate lowered maybe by going under his wife's policy or something? I'm sure he has now learned his lesson.

I had three speeding tickets (one in a school zone that I did not know was a school zone) and two at fault accidents between 16 and 20 years old. I was paying around 300 per month for liability only when I was 20. It took about 7 years to get to 150 a month for a new car and 2 more years to get down to 50 per month.

I was talking about being a target for DUI. As for being a target for speeding and other reasons, I don't buy it. If you aren't breaking the law then you won't be a target. I always thought I was a target until i wised up and realized that it was my fault and not the cops or anyone elses.

Wow! Thats a long time for that to stay on your record. 9 years to get cheaper rates. I guess he will pay through the nose for these mistakes.Rates always drop more after the age of 25 I hear and more if you get married and I also hear they now go by your credit report.Somehting else to raise your rates for.

Maybe you can try Nationwide. I know someone who has a terrible driving record ( a few DUI's, etc)., and he got a pretty decent rate. He did call other Insurance comapnies, but, I don't know who ALL he DID call. (Just my '2 cents').

I never thought about it, but yeah 9 years was a long time. I thought I got my act together and then got the fluke DUI (blew .004 over the legal limit after a company function. Luckly at the time I kept my adjuster job, but it cost about 10K when I lost my company car for a year. It also cost me a job when I tried to switched companies. I finally found a better company to give me a shot. Hope your son learns his lesson, since this will follow him around awhile and as second one is death.

Well it has been a while since he got the dui .Since then his girlfriend has had a baby and everything is ok . He has found some insurance where he pays less than 100 down and less than 100 a month. What a blessing! I think he has learned a valuable lesson. :?
