I have heard of something called a Birthday rule to be applied on the health insurances that cover me, my wife and our kids. I would like to know more about that. Could anyone of you help me out ?

regards,
Andy

i think its a good idea to have a birthday insurence rather than having a death insurence, i think we should be greatful that we have been given a chace to see the following year so we must make the best of it.

"Birthday Insurance"...is there such a thing? I never heard of it (but, of course, that doesn't mean it doesn't exist..LOL). Can someone please explain what it is and how you may go about getting it?

The birthday rule is ONLY applied to children covered as dependents under two or more health insurance policies. It NEVER applies to an adult's coverage.

Thanks, MAX. I appriciate the explanation. My son is a 'legal' adult now..18 years old. Guess he wouldn't qualify.

WRONG. Married or unmarried, living with you or not, student or not, employed or not, if your son has no employer-sponsored health insurance available to him, he may remain as a "dependent" on your own employer-sponsored or individual health insurance plan until he turns age 26, courtesy of the Patient Protection and Afforable Care Act . . . affectionately referred to as Obamacare.

the birthday rule is an informal procedure that the health insurance industry has widely adopted for the coordination of benefits when children are listed as dependents on two parents' group health plans.
