On page 24, you said that you thought I was a captive agent. I am not an agent at all. I work for a carrier. I'm a sales/marketing rep, and I work with independent insurance agencies.

I started my career as a customer service representative in Florida in 1991.
In 1996, I came to Texas and opened my own insurance agency. Over the next ten years, I grew the agency to four locations.
I served as President for the Alliance Insurance Agents of Texas, a non-profit association of independent insurance agents. The primary goal of the association was to network with other agents, share experiences, and continue our education so we could better service our clients.
In 2005, I was asked to serve on a committee headed by the Texas Department of Insurance to implement an Uninsured Motorists Verification System. Having been an agent for all those years, I witnessed on many occasions the financial devastation caused to people that were hit by uninsured motorists.
Also in 2005, I obtained my Certified Insurance Counselor designation from the National Alliance for Insurance Education and Research.
I sold my agencies in 2006, took some time off, and then went to work for an insurance company as a marketing representative. I thoroughly enjoyed working with independent agents. Unfortunately, the parent of the company I worked for, General Motors, experienced some terrible losses in the automobile industry, therefore, they decided to no longer offer that product in the State of Texas.
Shortly thereafter though, I was offered my dream job with Insurance Technologies Corporation. While my entire career has been in the insurance industry, I have always had a love for technology. Having been a customer of ITC the entire time I owned my agencies, I knew first-hand that ITC always offer superior products and operated with a core philosophy to always go above and beyond for their clients.
ITC provides automation solutions for the insurance industry. I primarily work with the products we offer through insurance agents - Insurance Pro - our agency management system, Insurance Website Builder - our agency website solution, TurboRater - our comparative rater, and TurboStorm - our online rater for Florida agents that write through Citizens.
I enjoy this forum. It offers me an opportunity to offer advice to insurance customers as well as agents. I also get the opportunity to continue my education with the posts made by the experts of this forum. Early on in my career I learned – I’ll never stop learning. The experts on this forum offer a wealth of accurate information that is most appreciated.
