The neighbors kid is working on this crappy old truck, it is so loud, he revs it up and revs it up. He does not care what time it is. He is trying like hell to get the truck on the road and in the meantime, we all SUFFER, I have talked to his mother, she is sick of it too. We don't want to discourage him from getting it going, he is a good kid, drug free, no behavior problems, saved for the old piece of crap that is a gem in his eyes, LOL. Just don't know how much more of this I can take, LOL. Help me.

I am hoping he gets it going soon, I don't have the knowledge or I would go help him. One of those between a rock and a hard spot. Hate to hear the truck but don't want to crush the kids dream truck either, or do I? LOL.

Omg, know the feeling erb,

Our neighbor has a son, who is not a kid, just has not left home yet, that has a race car, thank god there is some woods between us, it is very annoying coming through the woods the little bit that I can hear. He works on it in his every free moment, then he races the heck out of it going up and down the road like a mad man. It is just a little four banger, but it is loud, I keep hoping the engine will drop when he is flying up and down the road, when I say drop I mean blow up. I don't think he would put the money back into it again. He would probably go by another one though. So I know what you mean.

So your saying his mother can not control the situation? He's living in her house, correct? Tell her that he needs to stop reving the engine after x hour or you will need to call the police. If it does not stop, call the police. Problem solved.

I am going to try and talk to him I think. He is a good kid, just very excited about this old jalopy he bought, wants to get it on the road, I understand his enthusiasm so I have been trying to be nice about it, it is rough when you have to get up for work in the morning and he is working on it at night. Wish one of the guys in the neighborhood would help the poor kid out. I don't think he knows what he is doing and his father is never around. I will be a bit more patient and then go talk to him one on one about it. If that don't work, then I will talk to his mother. Hopefully he will have it running before the weekend is over, LOL.

Well, I have a story for you. I was cutting weeds in our chicken pin with pruning shears. ALl three of my kids were home. I dropped the sgears and somehow they bounced and hit my leg cutting my leg and a vein. There I am blood running down my leg and screaming for my kids.No one heard me so I deciding i would have to walk back up the hill to the house. I screamed all the while and they never heard me.Why you might ask? The kid across the road had a motorcycle driving it up and down in front of our house!I finally made it in the back door and my oldest son drove me to the ER for stitches. The motorcycle drowned me out!

Sorry to hear that hummingbird, I can't stand the noise, we have some neighborhood kids with four wheelers that by the way are way to big for them to be riding, they are crazy on them, ride them on two wheels and carrying on up and down the road. One of them are going to get hurt, they don't even care if traffic is coming. They will pile a few kids on them too, like on the front and the back, the parents know they do it too.

There you go erb, he may respect you more and try to tone it done if you go to him directly instead of involving his mother, you are treating him like an adult, great tactic, LOL.

About the other kids with the four wheelers, that is bad news and then when one of them is severly hurt or killed they will say it was an accident, no right now, it is an accident waiting to happen. This irritates me that parents put these machines in kids hands. I have heard so much tragedy in these situations, just because a parent can not set boundaries.

They will probably drive cars like this too, because no one is taking the time to teach them right from wrong.

Hey hummingbird, was it one of those neon green dirt bikes that is really loud? Hate those too. Your daughter's horses probably did not like that thing racing all through the yard.

Sounds to me like ''erb''s kid'' (for lack of a better term  ) isn't like these disrepectful brats that have no respect or parental control...I think if you go out and hang out with the kid some, try and give advise, or ask questions, take him a can of pop etc...(make friends) then you can bring up, during a subsequent conversation.... ''you know honey, you are doing a great job on this old vehicle, and really seem dedicated, we were wondering if you could not race the motor in the evenings, I know you didn't realize it but it comes right in our house, and I can't sleep!''' type of conversation....poor kid no dad, and as you say a good boy all in all.....and honestly what kid (especially a teen boy with his 'own' car), can 'see' outside of 'his' situation?

Other examples......I'd have already called the cops...clearly the parents (racing vehicles around the area) have either:

a) no clue, b) no control c) livin' their own lives and can't be bothered with their own kids! or d) inconsiderate jerks...and lastly are e) poor examples of parenting, if nothing else they should be concerned with their own (and other) childrens safety!

That is exactly the way I was thinking Lori, he don't hang out with the other kids that race the four wheelers, don't know why he has always been sort of a loner, don't know if he has friends in school or not. Just know that he has not been the sort to call attention to himself until now, LOL. He is always polite if I see him out.

Now the other brats on the four wheelers are enough to drive you crazy, I thought about calling the game commission, they run a lot on an old railroad bed that runs through the game lands here, I am sure they don't want to be liable for the kids, I am talking 12 and 13 year old kids here, no adult supervision, no helmets, no clue what could happen, or if they do have a clue, they don't care.

I just would not have sympathy for the parent that cries when this child does get hurt badly, maybe killed or not being able to walk again, they should have seen that this could possibly happen when they bought the adult machine for the kid. My grand daughter broke her arm a few years ago when some of her friends and her decided to go riding in the strip yards, her friends dropped her off at my other daughters house and left, good friends huh, they continued to ride. It just amazes me these kids get miles from home and out where no one would find them if you did not know where they were. Those old strip mines have a lot of dangerous high walls and abandomned surface mines with some pretty deep pockets. I don't know out of my control, you just hope they survive their teenage years.

Erb, Maybe they have not heard of all the people or kids who have been killed on the.maybe you should find some old news article and show it to them.We had a mother and child killed on one here i think a year or so ago. I hear of kids all the time getting killed on there around here. My daughters were riding one and had an accident on it and my youngest scarped herself up pretty badly. It was their papaws 4 wheeler. They never rode it since. Maybe you should contac the child welfare that is child endangerment. It depends on how deeply you want to get involved. But consider this. You are seeing these things go on and if you say nothing ,you will feel terrivle knowing you could have prevented a serious accident or a fatal one.It is just waiting to happen,is all.
Goodnatured. They weren't driving the motor cycle through our yard. They were on the highway in front of our house.

i wont say anything on the neighbors kids because my kid is the neighbor kid around here. he has a gift for gab but is an all around good kid he helps all the neighbors especially the old, but you always see him into something. not so long ago he burnt some tires which is illegal trying to burn an old foudation, yes he got in trouble but not serious trouble he has to clean up and show them before he can fill the hole in. he mows grass andshovels snow for all the old neighbors. he helps anyone who ask but some people use him and take advantage of him. no one has to love him or even like him although they do. i have enough love and fath fo him to cover his entire life. in fact i love all my kids and they all turned out good with a few boo boos but who dont make mistakes.
