Friends, whatever you might think..but there is no denying that fact that there had been some serious changes across the labor market. Such changes came in the form of segregation of jobs, involvement of women at work as well as the increase in the number of dual-income groups.

It was surely a challenge for such dual-income groups to make their professional and domestic ends meet. It was here that the unemployment insurance had failed miserably. As it failed to keep up with the upcoming changes, it became more and more difficult for it to satisfy the needs of both the dual-income groups as well as the low-income groups. Roddick

Actually, it seriously demands statewise reforms from the part of the govt.

  • Criteria for availing these benefits should be set upon the latest earnings of a worker
  • The eligibility criteria should be flexible for part-time workers.
  • The eligibility criteria should be set upon the working hours and not only on the wages earned.
  • There has to be more contributions form the state to keep the workers satisfied and healthy.
Hope you all got my point at that!

Hi all, it is quite true that we should know all about the eligibility criteria of UI benefits, worth of such benefits, suggestions regarding any upgrade of UI program benefits. In order to avail the benefits, you'd need to file a claim with your state UI program. The State financial eligibility criteria has to be met inititally which is to be followed by the non-monetary criteria. This is meant to ensure that the worker had been an employee for a considerable period of time as well as to ensure that he is no more with his prior employer due to some permitted facts. Crossbreed

Hey..in order to avail such benefits the applicants would need to prove that it is not due to any of their own faults that they are unemployed for the time. At the same time, they would also need to ensure that they would satisfy certain facts-

* These benefits are aimed to provide temporary financial assistance to workers who would satisfy the state compliance guidelines.

* Each state conducts a specified unemployment insurance following the guidelines laid by the federal govt.

If you're talking about the eligibility criteria for UI insurance benefits then I believe there are a few more conditions to be satisfied-

  • The worth of the UI benefits as well as the extent of time for which such benefits would be offered to you would be decided by the state laws that govern such claims.
  • Across almost all states the fund is created out of the tax revenues collected out of the employers.
  • The state rules in connection with the wages earned or the time-length for which the applicant would need to work have to be fulfilled.
So you see how the state wants to be absolutely sure that such benefits are not falling on to the wrong hands in the end.

Hi, I don't know why you all forgot about mentioning the claim-filing process under the UI insurance. See, it is very much necessary for you to inform the state UI agency of a probable unemployment scenario. It has become really easy to convey such information online or through the phone.
I'm sure you'd be more than 'satisfied' to receive your first settlement check within a couple of weeks..am I right!

Hi yeah..but then there are certain states who'd need a week-long waiting period!
You may invite a number of queries while filing your claim. They would demand a detailed account of the address and the period of your earlier employment. I'd suggest you to give every particular information that they want in order to speed up the claim process. Plasticmind

Hi,
I think you'd need to register with the state employment service as soon as you'd claim the UI benefits. This would certainly help you towards obtaining another employment opportunity. Under circumstances wherein you'd not need to register, you may still avail the employment service to locate your desired opportunity. Hope this thing helps your search! BarbieL

I always find this string of posts interesting because it's always the exact same people who reply one after the other in rapid succession.

It makes me wonder if they're not all one and the same person?

From the first post at 9:56 to the last post at 10:48 is 52 minutes for 10 posts.

Is it just me?
I find this odd?

Federal and State unemployment TAX is paid for by your employER.

EmployEES don't pay this.

I believe "W" just signed into law unemployment benefits to be extended to 45 weeks.
Now you don't have to get serious about finding a new job for 43 weeks.
If you pay people NOT to work they won't work.

I'm just saying.
