How can I find out how good is a company in a claim situation?
I would rather pay a higher premium if it means getting an insurance company that is more likely to pay if I'm unfortunate to become disabled.
I don't want to pay for an expensive policy and then have to fight with the insurance company to get the benefits if I really need it.

Can any expert please let me know about how to find out about the sincerity and credibility of an insurance company. I am considering own occupation disability insurance. Please advice. Thanks

The fortunate reality is that none of the companies selling individual disability insurance in the white collar market have a bad claim's paying reputation.

Denying legitimate claims is the easiest way to get insurance agents to stop writing their policies.

Notice that when you read about claim paying difficulty, it is almost always about group policies.

Before buying any insurance policy from any company, it's better that you research about the company's background first.

Find out about its customer satisfaction record and claim settlement method.

Check its financial stability and its goodwill in the market.

It's better to buy insurance policy from a well known company has been into business for more than 10 years, rather than a new insurer.

Hope you find an appropriate policy for your specific needs. Good luck.

Whether you’re looking for disability insurance or a term life insurance [Link removed as per TOU] quote, you can gauge a company’s financial strength and integrity by looking at the financial rating given by rating companies like Standard & Poor’s, A.M. Best or Fitch. An aggregator website will send you the financial rating of a company along with free quotes. A rating of “A++” or its equivalent would indicate that a company has good standing, is financially sound and has a good track record for paying out claims.
