| Where I come from it is the law to have at least liability. You can not even get your car relicensed with out showing proof of insurance .If you get stopped by the police you also have to show proof or be ticketed for not having it.So dropping it is NOT an option here. |

I agree, there are also countless people that are just plain greedy and idiots themselves bringing 'hard times ' on themselves...as an example...guy next door to me was GIVEN his house (nice place too) by his grandmother...no lein, nothing...free...all he had to do was pay his taxes every year, and ulitlitys what a sweet deal! I agree, I wish there was a way to individually evaluate each situation... Oh my gosh....hopefully your house if full electric and this is to run everything right? If that's the case, then when you break it down it's not any more than most....gas bill in the winter around my part of the country is about 150-250 per month and electric about 90.00 in the summer our electric runs at least 250 per month...I feel your pain, and with the gasoline prices being what they are it is a struggle for all...........

| Ok, I figured it out .It stands for department of Insurance. Can I find this on the internet by putting in my state and department of Insurance?I would like to find it and look at it. |

| Never mind I figured out what that means. Thank you Lori for the insight into the Ky DOI. I will certainly look into it. I don't understand why the insurance companies don't tell us this stuff. |

Actually, the BBB is a consumer advocacy group and the DOI is a government regulatory agency.
I strongly doubt anyone from the BBB could come into a business, produce a warrant, seize documents, and make an arrest. DOI Investigators have the ability to do so.

Want to see a bunch of insurance claims managers (and adjusters and even secretaries) 'pucher' watch them come in a pull files............oh my...........these guys have a lot of power!

| Hey I said it was kinda like a BBB. You report grievances to the DOI and the BBB. Its just the DOI has way more clout then the BBB. |

Hey Lori, I could tell you stories about some of the stuff I saw when I was working with the DOI in CA.
During an investigation of a broker with GSL, we discovered that he kept a pistol in his desk from time to time. When we went into his office with a warrant, he was told to get up and leave. When he moved for his desk drawer (to get his stuff, he claimed) he had 3 pistols drawn, cocked and pointed right at him. The look on his face was priceless.
He left without incident and we didn't find a weapon. His license was permanently revoked some time afterwards.
