Car accident

Hi,

I live in Ontario, Canada, and was involved in a car accident. The other party ran the red light and we crashed at the intersection. I received no ticket from the police, and the other party received a ticket which I don't know what the charge was.

I am with State Farm, and I have been contacting my adjusters for almost 2 weeks now. The one that is handling my car's damage settlement has just called me with an offer (my car was a total loss). I said I would have to discuss the amount with my parents, since they are the one who bought the car. Later in that day, I called him back and left a message asking him to call me back so we can discuss the offer, however, I haven't heard from him for 4 days. Is this abnormal? or is he reconsidering the offer?

Also, another adjuster is handling my injury claims, since I am new to auto insurance, what is the process of these kind of claim? Are all payments made after all the treatments?

One more question, the other party claimed in his statement to the police that the traffic light was not working at the time of the collision. 2 days ago his adjuster called me and asked about my take on his claim, on whether the traffic light was really not working or not. But why would she be calling me? Is that a normal process or not? Shouldn't they be contacting the police that gave the other party the ticket? There are no witnesses in this incident.

Any help would be much appreciated.

.WHAT????????? HELL YES IT'S ABNORMAL!!! Now, is statefarm (your carrier) handling this or the ''other/at fault'' guy)

or is he reconsidering the offer?

I don't care if he's baking a cake this is awful! and should NEVER HAPPEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also, another adjuster is handling my injury claims, since I am new to auto insurance, what is the process of these kind of claim?

A lot/most insurance companies specialize, so this is not uncommon to have a bi adjuster and a pd adjuster

Are all payments made after all the treatments?

Yes, typcially liablity injury claims are paid at the end when you have finished treatment and have been released from the doc....they will then owe your bills, loss wages, and an injury settlement....well wait a minute maybe not...is this your company? right? if so I doubt any injury settlement...do you have PIP? is that what they are paying under is so they will/should 'pay as you go'...if the other guy is found at fault you may (depending on the laws of canada) have an injury settlement due you from the other company.

But why would she be calling me? Is that a normal process or not? Shouldn't they be contacting the police that gave the other party the ticket? There are no witnesses in this incident.

Both companies (adjusters) should be taking statements from all parties in an effort to find liability/negligence, and to make that decision all information is needed and welcomed...this is standard policy...

Now back to your slacker adjuster...Honey you need to call him one more time, if his/her voice mail picks up, hit zero, and ask to speak to that adjusters supervisor NOW!!! If you get his v/m leave one message, if they don't call you back do the same with them...These types of adjusters really piss me off! When you get the supervisor you tell them exactly what has happened the number of messages you've left etc...(keep track of this, date, time etc, if you haven't been)...

Please let us know if we can be of further assistance to you.
