I'm a college student currently residing in TX simply for college, but i'm a MN resident. Must I change my insurance coverage or can i keep my MN coverage?

I'm not sure about that one. I would think if you are there for a long period of time you may have to. Anyway you came to the right place. I'm sure your question will be answered here.

My friend, you have not really mentioned about the nature of the cover or the carrier. Some carriers are too big to let you go that way! What they will do, would probably offer you a 'rider' if your policy permits. The rider may well suit the guidelines pertaining to that state you've migrated to & necessitate you to lose or allow you to get more benefits following the compliance norms of that state. You can always check that up with the DOI if you don't wish to share your policy benefits or the name of the carrier over here. But I guess, it pays to open up a bit at times!

Awaiting your response,

Hi yeah!

I think I should ask you to go through the paperworks sent by your policy holder while you applied for it & also get yourself informed regarding the operations of your carrier across TX & get us fed. Wish get back sooner..

What exactly is a rider? So if you say work out of state four days a week and come home for the remainder you need to add to your coverage? Sorry I just don't understand auto insurance too much.

I think that you would be okay unless you changed your residency to permanent in the state that you are going to school in, but just to be safe, I would call the insurance company and asked them for sure. You want to make sure that you are covered or see if you have to pick up a special rider.
fireyone, a rider is a special clause put in place by the insurance company for special situation such as this, riders come in all flavors, colors and fashions, LOL. They can be unique to ones situation.

Okay now I understand. Not that a rider is anything I need but I've come to a new way of thinking lately...If you don't know what it is ask. You never know if it will apply to you somewhere in life. Been finding that out personally...Knowledge is power..

you got that right, I never thought insurance could be so interesting, when I first came here, I thought this is not a place for me, but as I am here longer and longer, I have gotten a lot of intrest in insurance. I love to read the threads with all the different scenarios and what different people have experienced, I feel like a more informed consumer that is for sure.

There certainly are alot of avenues to insurance you can explore. I found this site extremely useful. I have even went over some of policies here on line and found I wasn't as insured as I should be. I am glad to have found that out now than further down the line when something happened. Just cause you have insurance doesn't mean you have all you need. Thanks to all that has helped me.
