Hey!

Health is wealth.:D

And to maintain a proper health we should take up some security policies.

Different health insurance policies offer different types of facilities. To get a better information about health insurance policies you may refer to the following article:

And the article..."Really what good comes out of Health Insurance" gives you a comprehensive idea about health insurance.

Yes it seems we have two good health related articles that focus on our health.

In most of the states the government has now taken up some Medicare programs to insure the elderly people and the bed ridden renal patients.

Now, over here are we talking about Long term Care?

Hi Sil,

Nice articles!
I must say you're uncovering that part of this site which seems a real booster!
I just viewed the one at the community blog, where I found someone even has to say

I see health insurance as your assurance towards that extra bit of ecstasy which you derive in smoking or by plunging within your chilled drink!

But on the contrary, I'd feel it to be something that supports you through your life, rather than being like a life policy which adds to the benefits of your beneficiaries. Do keep in touch, MHudson

Guys, I see it from an angle where if it has to be a must for all the states, then it might leave a scope for the insurance companies to play around with the costs. Now, I see the modern day insurance cards pose to reduce the consumer hassles, but in reality they fetch in a lot from our pockets for just what is enlisted with a view to enhance their business returns. From the stories that we come across every now-n-then its evident that the Govt. sponsored health policies are better than the pvt carriers'. Even though it may seem that the pvt. family-floaters are economical.
Waiting for some more articles..

Yes you are correct ...Health insurance is indeed a primary requirement. But these days for the alarming increase in the health insurance premium rate common people are finding it pretty expensive. What do you say?

Though... tuning the premium rate is not in my hands, but to help you with an apt advise in this case is within my reach. You may again refer to second article of the ones mentioned in the blog of this site,... to keep yourself fit as much as possible. At least that is in our control.... :D Actually i came across more nice good articles and information as i was exploring this site....

By the way... can someone tell me...why is there a rise in price of the health insurance premium? Is it because the companies want to make more profit ?

I believe it is becoz the health insurancee companies are trying to make more and more profit out of it.

If I told you the following, how long do you think a business would be sustainable?

*$400 comes in monthly from one person.

*$800 is spent on preventative care including multiple blood tests, x-rays and whatever else the doctor thought was appropriate at the time knowing full well the insurance carriers SHOULD take care of it.

*The doctor is either paid when they see you (PPO) or when they don't see you (HMO). Read this book http://www.makingakilling.org/

*Client spent a $35 copay to receive $800 back that month.

How many people do you need to make the business profitable?

I'm over-generalizing here but some of the reasons why health insurance premiums continue to go up are as follow:

1) Advances in technology that did not exist 30 years ago. Technology is very expensive and somebody has to pay for it.

2) People are living longer thanks to technology.

3) Insurance companies need to stay in business to make a profit and pay claims, so they have to offer products with enough benefits that are competitive in the market, but not expose them to overextending their finances.

You'll see carriers do stupid things when they increase an insurance pool in excess of 20%. That normally means they had a bad year, their underwriting was too liberal, or a host of other things that would take a 10 page essay to explain. google "health insurance claims" to get more information.

4) The member's insurance contracts spells out what is and what is not covered. 99.9% of people don't read this contract. From my experience I estimate 10%-15% of the insurance agents know what is written in the contract, while another 2% understand it.

6) Stand mandates that require health insurance carriers to cover specific procedures. For example, up until recently I lived in MD and one of their state mandates says that an insurance carriers MUST cover hair implants if chemotherapy caused any hair loss. Visit here for more information http://www.cahi.org/cahi_contents/resources/ to download PDF file covering all states.

7) We have the highest paid doctors in the world and help pay for the uninsured via emergency room treatment, Medicaid and other avenues

8) People expect the best but want to pay the least.

10) Go here http://www.ncpa.org/ to read John Goodman's perspective about methods to reduce health care and get a glimpse into what occurs now.

11) Lastly, people confuse their health issues similar to how they treat their car. Most people will obtain the oil changes, tire rotations, scheduled maintenance, etc. and understand that THEY WILL PAY for the services. They don't expect Geico to pay for this stuff. This is a result of what transpired in the 1960's and 1970's with HMO's and the famous copay plans that insurance agents sold because they were the best at the time. Now, it's HSA's.

I hope this helps.
