you are correct about not knowing about how much coverage we have until being involved in an accident. I was at fault in an accident in Louisiana 11.5 months ago and my husband and I are being sued. The other new, very expensive car was totalled (no injuries) What I would like to know is if the driver of the other vehicle had full coverage and her car was replaced, why are we being sued? Is this not the reason to have insurance on this type of vehicle to protect in cases of underinsured motorists? I believe that most people are underinsured. If you are at fault in an accident with a semi, recreational vehicle, hummer, etc, most insurance coverage is not enough.
