Telemarketers annoy me to no end. I don't want my carpet cleaned, I don't feel like changing my phone company, I don't want my windows washed, and I don't have a car to buy insurance on either.

I just tell them "Please hold" and I stick on some classical music and go to lunch.

It is a good ploy to ask them to hang on while you do your work!
Even in the recent times I've resorted to storing those numbers separately as anonymous callers...n the next time they call me I just bang in on them. I've all the sympathy in the world in place for these guys, but they don't seem to empathize with us at all!

Hi all....my telephone would just direct callers to my answering machine whenever a new caller is detected. I have all the known callers' numbers identified within my system. My answer to them would be kinda "I am fishing...would you like to join me! If not try your luck another time"
Isn't it cool?

Hi Quenlin!

I don't want my carpet cleaned, I don't feel like changing my phone company, I don't want my windows washed, and I don't have a car to buy insurance on either.

Impressive description of sorts...but how on earth did you miss out on those discount family-programs! They are just getting into my nerves for the past decade.

I'm from North Carolina ( a friend told me that they call it a No-Rebuttal state)..& we have an option of choosing which offer we'd listen to. In case we say a big "NO" to the offer right at the beginning of the call, the caller is supposed to hang up right then! But now-a-days I see callers are not even paying a heed to the state borne rules. Some of them are so harsh, that you need to shout at the top of your voice to get the message through their silly heads & put your name at the DNC list.

How is that working for you? The callers could care less. They get paid to make the calls... they don't get paid to care what you do when they call. Personally, I take advantage of perfectly good laws to _prevent/stop_ these calls.

www.donotcall.gov

Add all your phone numbers and the calls will simply stop after a few months.

I'm with tcope I've been on my states 'do not call' list for years, and recently added all our numbers to the federal one, and we rarely get a call..except these damn political ones that are coming in now! And a few charitys get thru...

How is that working for you? The callers could care less.

On this point, just two nights ago the fallen police officers something or other called my husband apparently was in the mood to test them, rather than what I say, which is always, ''I'm on the MO attorney generals do no call list, you'd better not call me again or I will report you" (they always say, 'oh so sorry, we'll move your name to our no call list)...anyway the guy wants 100 bucks or so...Husband gives them this terrible sob story about we just have no money at all everyone is sick or dying, dude on the phone says, well can you give 50 bucks-and keeps going down to can you give ten bucks? Hubby continues with 'they turned off the heat yesterday it's really getting bad' (blah blah I mean really laying it on thick), guy actually said to him, ''well I'm glad I got to you before they turned your phone off''! can you believe that?

I can believe it... worst phone calls I've had are from those people. The take the PD into letting them collect in their name and then keep much of the money for themselves. When I told one I did not want to give them any money he had the nerve to ask me if I felt safe because of what the PD did. As if I did not give them money, the PD would not do their job.

Technically, they would probably be considered a charity and as such are exempt from any DNC list.

I agree, the political calls are the worst. But they also use text messages as well. The calls are usually from independent companies and I find are usually slandering the party running against the person they want in office.

Got a policital (well i think that is what it 'would've'' been) last night, phone rings, i pick up, woman says, ''Mrs. blank, could you spare a few minutes to take a survey that is vitally important to our country?'', I said, ''Lady, I just this second got my grandson to sleep! After wrestling with him for over an hour and that was after I'd worked about 10 hours today! Do you hear him crying now? That is because you woke him up the second I FINALLY got him to shut his eyes!" Would you like to take a survey about how hard I'd kick your a## if I could get ahold of you!" Needless to say she hung up...man that ticked me off! I've told them before (the political calls)...''You know I ''was'' gonna vote for your guy, I'm not now, just because you're bugging me at home!"

On the police/fire dept calls, those really tick me off...I always ask them, 'so you a fireman/cop?" course they aren't....My father in law is a retired firefighter and my husband was too early in our marriage, no cop/fireman I know has ever seen a dollar of that money....

Man, you're awesome. I've never unleashed that much Hell on someone, but you'd bet that I would if they screwed up my end result of a year-long trial.

I usually pick up the phone, answer it, then sit it down somewhere and walk away from it.

I use to use the crow call on them.

I am now on the "do not call" list
