^^ agree. serious topics need serious answers. Since this place is giving revenue per post. You can expect more of it. But i hope those kind of thread starters will take some considerations about this.
Anyway, i think that the thread title is awkward.

Today the insurance industry transacts claims worth millions of dollars. Con artists are teaming up with insurance agents to dig out as much as they can. It has become a necessity to curb insurance frauds in order to lead the settlement processes in a smooth way.

IMO all we'd need to discuss about frauds have to be case studies pointing to real life incidents. Otherwise, there's no pointing in rolling over the same thing once more.

Amit i think, moreover, here to know about such incidents is a learning experience for others, so that they dont go thru the same. Normally, what happens is that any1 who is opting for a financial product incl insurance no one cares to read the TnC part which is most crucial for one common reason that it has that legal language and is also lengthy so tiring...
and thus get stuck in some or the other situation... turning out to b a fraud..

so what are you waiting for Goodnaz... when do we get to know some incident worth knowing...

That surely is a problem for many...but for every financial program that you enroll you'd need to read it slowly and carefully in order to get what the clauses actually mean for you. It's quite like many of these tele-marketing scripts that the agents would read over the phone, which are actually legal documents that form the basis of the agreement. More often you'd find them reading faster for certain clauses which they feel might be insignificant for you at that point of time.

True Steven... Honestly, i have gone through n no. of threads in this site.... and i am really proud to associated with it... and one of the reasons being the way this message is spread..... GO THROUGH YOUR POLICY DOCUMENTS... READ CAREFULLY ALL CLAUSES BEFORE YOU ACT.

This is so very important. N shockingly, there are many people who wake up when an issue arises and then some clause is shown to them. So Reading thoroughly can prove so worthy...I guess most of the problems with such regards would not arise if this is taken care of.

My opionin? If you feel pressured by ANY Insurance Company or Insurance Agent, you shouldn't deal with them at all. I've had a Insurance Company call me several times, about a Life Insuranmce policy I was interested in. Thje Agent din't really answer any questions I had and persisted, several times, to call back, after I told him I no longer wanted to do business with him. Just use your 'gut feeling' at dealing with Insurance Companies/Agents.

We should read and whenever we get struck we should ask questions. I hope there's no harm in picking up the phone and call up the customer care.
If they could call us so many times before signing up..why can't we?

Hi Gnp, I agree that reading the policy document is absolutely necessary. This way you can minimises your chances of getting your claims denied, but claim denial and insurance frauds, if nor entirely, are different things. And, I'm still waiting to hear a great story from the OP.

Yup, IMO fraud is when its a deliberate effort to scam the insurer for monetary gains, by submitting fraudulent claims, lying in the insurance application and the like. IMO the fraudsters know the T&C of the policy document too well. Therefore, they would plan out everything ahead not to face denied claim.

Hope you would agree with me this time too.

I agree with you, STEVEN. We should beable to call Customer Care. However..............will we REALLY get straight answers, without Customer Care beating around the bush with them? If your questions aren't being answered, this should be a 'red flag' to you.

Thought I would let people know this: I recently received an e-mail stating that my 'warranty insurance is up on my car' ( paraphrasing this, of course). I don't HAVE a warranty on my car. The Sender was just titled 'Customer Service'.....so I have no idea who it was REALLY from.

SD they just had something on the news obout this scam. If they call it comes up AUTO WARRENTY. I would advise anyone whom get s a call or e-mail from this company to stay away. They apparenlty are fraudulent. In this economy I am sure there are alot more frauds out there. This stinks because when it is auto related it effects all of our policies. It is a shame just how many vehicle claims are a scam. My personal pet peeve is when someone is drinking then wrecks. Next day they call in a deer damage claim. Happens here all the time.
