A couple of days back I heard of a similar plot enacted by 2 farmers. They had planned to blow up their trucks & blame it on terrorism. While blowing it with gasoline & a bomb one of them got blazed instantly. The other one who didn't comprehend the situation well enough..came to the rescue of his partner..& caught fire. The latter died in the hospital due to severe burns later. So...these are the consequences. _________________ Register Now to have your Insurance queries solved. |

Guys..
Do you all know that it has become a practice for companies like Progressive to maintain a log of con-artists & their fraudulent activities. There are instances of health-care units producing medical bills suggesting treatments on injureds who had actually passed away days before.
You'd even come across examples wherein superimposed pics of cars in collision have been forwarded by consumers with similar cars in order to convince their carriers that it was their car which was in a mess.
Many of them have suffered planned physical injuries to obtain a good worth for their claims.
share more if you can,

Hey! What the heck do you think can you exceed the limits. You may have some injury that is justified and substantiate the claim. But your greed for money has only made poor insured and insurers poorer. Like a cunning jackal, just for the heck of money you go and file claims against innocent parties. Do you think you won lottery by getting into no fault accident and filing a suit. Is this a lawless no man's land?
Grow up man. Live up life.
Honestly is the best policy! I would say honesty is the only policy _________________ Register Now to have your Insurance queries solved. |

| Hey anonymous00, that is quite a story. Scams make me angry, whether they are insurance or something more (like a ponzi scheme). Where are people's morals sometimes? |

Unfortunately it is far easier for some people to prey on others than it is for them to work a legitimate job. There was a story on the news tonight about a work at home scam website that basically promised (for $89) to share all the secret survey places, telephone sales, and other work from home opportunities. The FTC got involved and finally shut down the 2 guys behind about 6 different websites.
They were 22 years old and had been doing it all through college. As part of the settlement with the FTC to avoid jailtime...they had to turn over a Ferrari, Lamborghini, and about 2.5 Million in cash. Although this seems to be a pretty stiff penalty...I'm sure they just laughed about it.
Why?
Because they had nearly 100,000 subscribers per year...that's 8.9 Million! You really think these college students will ever want to find a job now? Of course not. You made 4.45 Million last year and never reported to a day of work...now you need to come 9-5 Monday through Friday and we'll pay you $35K a year to start....HA! They will simply find another way to scam people! |

Hi,
Building on the success of our long-running General Insurance and Claims conferences, Marketforce and the IEA are delighted to introduce the inaugural Insurance Fraud Forum. At a time when margins are being squeezed and fraud is on the increase due to the economic environment, claims fraud is rising up the agenda. This dedicated one day conference will provide in-depth insights into advance fraud prevention and detection strategies, and presents an opportunity for the industry to share best practice and work together to combat fraud.

Hey, I am checking this blog using the phone and this appears to be kind of odd. Thought you'd wish to know. This is a great write-up nevertheless, did not mess that up.

Hello I was a passenger in nov 2010 accident. My girlfriend and her sister were fussing and my girlfriend over turned the car while driving. The car flipped 3 xs and slided into the medium. My right arm busted the glass and slided on the road resulting in a deep fascia road abrasion. The nurse had to scrub the CRAP!!! Outta the wound with a pad with bristles. The dr said it was a deep fascia wound which removed the superficial skin (which is a couple of layers) and would take a while to heal. Also with permanent nerve damage(i also cant feel anything around the nerve area.) It took 4 months to heal and I have a very ugly scar abt 2 inches long an t inches wide. And I have petmanent nerve damage. I got a lawyer couple of days after the accident and its now july. Its been 8 months and still no response from the progressive company on my claim my hospital bill is over 5000 dollars. My lawyer says progressive isnt ready to settle. Wtf?? Its been 8 mnths!!! Im ready to settle. How much am I looking to get?? And whats taking so long?? Any info will be grateful. _________________ Register Now to have your Insurance queries solved. |

You are paying a lawyer to answer these questions for you. Talk to him about it.
The claim could probably have been resolved much sooner, and with more money in your pocket, if you hadn't gotten involved with a lawyer. Your lawyer will get 30%-40% of what you would have gotten all on your own, simply by asking Progressive for it.
How much is it worth? No one here can tell you, but you are entitled to 100% of the medical expense (if it was paid for by your medical insurance, that company is entitled to be repaid by you), any lost wages, and then your "general damages" (aka: pain and suffering), a ballpark figure could be $5000.
But you also have to consider the driver's policy limits. If she only had minimum liability limits, you claim is in line with any other claims, and the policy limits could have been exhausted long ago, which would mean you might get $0 from her insurance company -- all because your lawyer is stalling, instead of you being first to file a claim directly with the insurance company.
Contrary to what we all see and hear on TV and radio about insurance and lawyers, the wisest among us will wait to hire an attorney until we have reached an impasse with the insurance company. If we don't believe we have the ability to fight beyond that point, then we might try to find a lawyer who can argue our matter more effectively for us. _________________ California-licensed Property & Casualty Broker-Agent and Life & Health Agent.
