Your AFLAC policy is not dependent on your employment situation. You can file a claim for anything covered by the policy. _________________ CA-licensed Life & Disability Analyst. I have had AFLAC coverage for 20 years. I have never had a problem filing any claim! They are very prompt in sending the checks! _________________ Register Now to have your Insurance queries solved.

About 10 years ago, my hubby (at the time) had an accident at work and broke his arm and sprained his ankle. We had Aflac (amoung another insurance) at the time. We ent copies of documentation,x-rays,etc..and, still Aflac said it "wasn't enough information." They never did help us. We cancelled our insurance with them. Not a good experience with them at all.....they were very rude,etc,..with us.

If you do decide to drop your plan, contact your Aflac rep and have him/her assist you. Pre-tax plans should only be quit during open enrollment to keep your employer in IRS compliance. _________________ Register Now to have your Insurance queries solved.

Looks like neither InsuranceMaze nor InsTeacher know what they are talking about.
Quote:
"'Open Enrollment' has NOTHING to do with canceling coverage in any way, shape or form. Open enrollment deals primarily with (Section 125 plan or not) an employee's ability to get into employer group and after-market plans (such as Aflac) without having to worry about health or other qualifying concerns. It has nothing to do with getting OUT of a plan."
Enrollment time can have everything to do with it if the premiums are being pre-taxed. IRS regulations, not Aflac's, require changes to be made at enrollment time. A difference we have here in Minnesota, is that Disability and Life policies can we added or cancelled at any time with the permission of the employer.

Very correct Merlini!

Still, this is about enrollment, not cancellation. Voluntary benefits (such as AFLAC's) may generally be terminated with notice to AFLAC, regardless of open enrollment periods.[/quote] _________________ CA-licensed Life & Disability Analyst. I just need the form. I pay for policy on son and grandson and aflac will not send form to my address and my son asked them to do this. We live in different county and he is on road all the time. I do not need for anyone to tell me what the poilicy does. _________________ Register Now to have your Insurance queries solved.

Is the short-term disability payments I received taxable? While the premium is a payroll deduction, my company does not pay any of it _________________ Register Now to have your Insurance queries solved.
