There is so much talk recently about extending healthcare benefits to the children of low income household.
I would like to know how the CHIP health program works. And, what ways it can be improved so to cover maximum number of children, lying outside the healthcare net? _________________ Register Now to have your Insurance queries solved. |

| Its a common notion that CHIP is available only to those who are lying in the low income bracket but CHIP benefits are now being extended to all kids who can't qualify for or get enrolled to health insurance. You really have to check with the local department to know more about the availability of CHIP program in your area. |

| Its true that all kids under the age of 19 years would qualify for the CHIP program. However, income would still remain the qualifying criteria. Families above the income threshold may have to pay low premium and co-pay for certain services to avail these benefits for their kids. |

Dear all..
I've found out that these preventative services would be worth a maximum of $175 for 12 months. Such services would comprise of regular check-ups, routine cleanings, precautions for decay as well as X-rays. These services would be equally distributed amongst all children.

| CHIP program is good for families that cant afford health insurance and dont have it through an employer. CHIP program covers children under a certain age and is free to people who meets certain income levels. However higher income does not necessarily exclude your child from the program. In many cases with moderate income you will be required to pay a small monthly premium, which compared to buying the health policy yourself on the market is an excellent deal. There is also Family Health Plus which covers adults with certain incomes. These are federal programs regulated by the state you live in and thus the state sets the rules, check with your state Dept of Health. |

Hi jeorge,
A majority of the children who've been enrolled with CHIP program would come under Tier I.
The CHPRA allows states to offer premium subsidy to children belonging to the low-income group. The only requirement is that such children have to qualify for coverage under an employer-backed group health plan.

That's quite correct. On the other hand,Therapeutic services would include the following-
* Root canals treatment
* Caps and crowns
* Fillings
* Removal of teeth

Hi all...higher would be the tier, more would be the allowable amount limit for the therapeutic services. The tier level of a child would depend on factors like-
On-time renewal, the stretch of enrollment and Coverage gaps
Thanks, Fatman |
