Hello Pcr349,

Haven't you asked them the reason? What is their argument about not signing off the lien?

By the way, how did you come to know about this company?

I personally have no experience with them but have come across certain information on the internet which claims this company to be bogus.

Are you inquiring about the claims assist who're based in Florida?

I think they are a third party biller for hospitals with bills related to accidents.

Did they obtain all of your hospitalization bills in time?

Hello Pcr,

Though you have put a private message in my inbox but I’d prefer to answer your question in the open forum so that other members too can share their opinions.

I’ve very little idea about claim access but I’d try to explain how the system works between the hospital and health insurers.

Health insurance providers enjoy agreements with the hospitals that allow them to settle the claims with the hospitals at discounted rates. For e.g- if you have a bill of $2,000 then the health carrier may settle the claim at $750. The remaining amount then gets written-off. Well, the health insurers pay an upfront fee, financed by your premium to the hospitals to receive this discount.

Now, if the hospital doesn’t bill the health carrier they would then be entitled to receive the full amount and can ruin your credit report by putting lien against you. And, Claim Assist is the vehicle through which they are doing it.

Which state are you from? What amount has been paid by your health insurer so far?

Hi all,

Which state are you from?

He's from Massachusetts. I just got a bit confused with the ones who're based in Florida. I am not too sure whether they are the same company with different branches across the nation.

Hi pcr349,

I guess insurance carriers have legal agreements with such third party administrators (like claims assist) to negotiate and settle it within their own business interests.

But did the third party biller set any time-frame for signing it off?

Oh! I thought that he has mentioned that the company is based in MA.

Hope Pcr would clear the confusion.

Anyway, what I've read about them in internet this company operates in more than one states, such as- Illinois.

Hi pcr349..

A thing that came to my mind is that the Claims Assist might scrutinize and find out scopes that hint a lowered settlement prospect. I think before signing on such liens they wanna confirm the worth of the claim.

Don't you think it could be an act to buy more time from you?

Or do you think that they don't agree with the settlement worth?

Steven
