Doctors Care Plan - A Medical Breakthrough.

by GarySpicuzza » Sun Mar 15, 2009 11:25 am

So I was sick over the past 10 days or so but I'm on Dr. David Hick's,(AKA Marcus Welby, MD's) Individual Doctors Care Plan. The cost of the plan for a single man is $160 per month. That's what I pay him. I pay MY DOCTOR $160.00 per month whether I need him or not.

MY DOCTOR is an "employee" for ME.

Anyway I got so bad sick with flu systoms last Friday I finaly called the Dr. Hicks at 8:00 PM on Saturday night. I was prompted by the phone system to press 8 to speak to the provider on call, after I pressed 8, Dr. David Hick's,(AKA Marcus Welby, MD) was on the line himself.

I told him my symtoms and how long I've had the problem then in typical Doctor fashion he told me to take 2 Mucinex at night and call him in the mornig,... to meet him at his office the next day on Sunday at 11:00 AM.

I complied and the next day I met him at his office he gave me full medical evaluation. Then precribed Clarithromysin; and Decontaminatethemind SR, PRN (as need) and some cough medicine.

Total charge for phone consultation for Saturday: $00:00

Totat charge for office visit............................: $00:00

Total charge for examination...........................: $00.00

Total charge for all 3 prescripitions...................: $00.00

Non-billed total charges..................................: $00.00

This is the way ALL primary care , non-emergency, routine snifflels, non invassive surgeries and general wellness health care should be provided in the future.

Please understand, THIS IS NOT MEDICAL INSURANCE.

THIS IS A PRIVATE CONTRACT BETWEEN YOU AND YOUR DOCTOR.

Well, this is certainly unorthodox, but I think its also case specific. You might have a doc who's interested in setting up a plan with his patients. Will all the docs be interested in the same way?

All in all it seems like a pretty good plan unless someone was sick nonstop but for the avreage person without losts of med problems I can see a win win situation here. My only question would be what if something serious happened that required tests and hospitolization. Those expenses can add up really quickly (believe me I know).
I am willing to bet a lot of doctors around here would not go for a plan like this since being in network is such a biggy. Usually they know when someone has a health plan like Highmark they are gaurenteed payment for their services. Not saying most people would not pay but you know what they say about one apple spoiling the whole bunch. I could here the lines of excuses doctors would have to deal with. "I will pay last months fee next mont, well I got behind but I am really sik. If the Doctor answers his phone at home to help (which I think is wonderful) how can he be sure that person paid their fee?

Bumping this to the top of the message board so I can find it when I need it and also-too by doing so this bumping thing gives me a sense of power and control where non actually exists but since I'm a legend in my own mind known to have an inappropriate response to a non-event I don't care.

So there!

:P  This is my post #801 and your computer will self destruct after you read this. :P
