See..I think its a federal insurance prog. for people who'd generally be covered under the FEHB. The retirees as well as the employees across DC wouldn't be eligible for it. The FLTCIP is in no ways associated with the FEHB-backed ltc policies or any other ltc policies. It has its own identity and in no way related with the fed. employees' health benefits prog.

Yes, your enrollment with the federal long term care insurance program doesn't comply to your enrollment with your fehb enrollment. The benefits that you'd achieve under fltcip are different than the benefits that would come to you under your fehb program. No ltc services would be covered under the fehb enrollment.

Such services would be covered under fltcip. But you should also remember the fact that fltcip isn't meant to feed your health care expenses. It is aimed at supporting your chronic care services.

Hey there..
Just ask you one simple question-when there are so many ltc programs available in the market...why do you need to apply for the federal program?
The answer lies in this programs being the only authorized ltc program for the existing as well as the retired federal govt. employees. It would also cover their families. So, what more do you want! Just don't fall prey to others who'd claim their offers to be 'federal' as well. With this kinda programs, you'd certainly get an opportunity to compare and analyze the benefits in great details. Its actually a good opportunity for you. Around 20 million people could be covered under this program. Amongst this would come all the annuitants, federal as well as postal recruits, some existing as well as retired servicemen from different uniformed services.

Hi,
In the FLTCIP program, you'd need to apply for the coverage on your own. Likewise your family members would need to apply for their own coverage individually. Even if you're not applying for this coverage, your spouse should not have any probs getting it. He/she would just need to fill-up a questionnaire. Also, remember two things- You'd not be able to apply for the coverage on your spouse's behalf. Federal long term care insurance program would only cover adults (over 18 years), but it would not cover for minor children.
Thanks, Evan

Hi all..it is really a good one!
The federal long term care insurance policy allows you to enjoy the coverage as long as you pay the premiums. Whether you leave your job or you retire, it doesn't really make a difference. Long term care partners (LLC) would offer you this coverage. It is a joint venture of the Metropolitan life and the John Hancock Life. It has proven its worth over time.
