Is it possible to find the right doctor without any health insurance backing you? Who do I contact?

You can ask friends for recommendations, you can look in the Yellow Pages.

Most physicians will accept patients without insurance. But the patient generally has to have the ability to pay for their services. Most physicians will give a significant discount to cash payers.

I'm sure it's good news for many of us here..

Do I need to show proof of my ability to pay them back?

Generally, no. But expect that you'll end up in "collections" if you don't. You might be asked to provide proof of employment or other source of income, but this is not all that common with the physicians I know.

At most doctor's offices, you will see a sign that payment in full is required at the time of service. If you have insurance they only require your copayment or estimated amount of payment due. If you are not insured, they will want the full amount up front.

Finding a doctor's office that does not work this way is difficult.

I'd rather contact my state health dept. for such queries. You may come across such health departments in state websites.

Not likely to find the information the OP has asked about on such web sites.

Some doctor's will take payment arrangements. However..I haven't found very many, of them, that do that. (Maybe?) you can look into those 'Discount Health Insurance' plans. They may not be the best, but, they CAN save you SOME money.

If you're not suffering from a tough illness, you may visit any walk-in clinic. They'd save a lot of money and offer a quick service for you!

Very true..I didn't think about that. (Just a comment) The only one I know, in the town that I live in, is a clinic for women. OP..you may want to check, VIA the Internet, where the clinics, closest to you, may be. I'm sure SOMETHING will be listed.
