Retired when, and after how many years?

With the exception of service connected disabilities, most health care benefits for veterans is poor to non-existent after separation from active duty.

Retired in '09 after 14 years of service. It's bad if there aren't any health care benefits aimed at women, who've served in the National guards.

AS far as I know, 14 years of service does not qualify one for "retirement" from the Armed Forces. A minimum of 20 is required to the best of my knowledge, absent a service-connected disability as referenced above.

You have to have 20 years active duty, Guard or Reserve or a combination, to be eligible for Tri Care. I'm not sure about what you would be eligible for from the VA, or the time limit. As was stated in prior posts unless you have a medical retirement. Check with your local VA office, they will be able to advise you on what benefits you are eligible for.

First of all we should understand the basic need to go for veterans health insurance. Many of our war veterans have suffered from injuries. Now, since a lot of these injuries are major ones, veterans health insurance was set up. It takes care of the most important needs of our war vets.

Do the most important thing. Get in touch with the Vets Health Administration.

There are some good packages that would not only protect you, but would rather cover the entire family. Check it out with the VHA!
