I think Managed Care Organizations (MCOs) are not too different from Health Care Organizations and provide medical services just like Health Care Organizations do. However, The MCOs are developed to bring down the cost of health care by designing economic incentive for the physicians, less expensive care for the patients, to increase the cost sharing of beneficiaries, inpatient admission, outpatient surgery costs and the like.

I believe our experts will be able to put more light on this. Waiting to know more.

If I am understanding your question right , then you want to know how MCOs are any different from HMOs? Managed care organizations are the health care providers who are also the employers contracting the insurers to provide insurance on a range of managed health care services whereas in case of HMOs , the insurers create a network of doctors who are known as primary care physicians or PCPs.Hope that helps.
