How much more specifice can I be. Rates rising faster than our income. We have had the same plan for 7 years & never used it for hospitalization. We have a 5,000.00 deductable. We pay approx. 1800.00 every qtr. for premium.

I highly recommend contacting a local broker who can review your current plan a provide additional options for you. It's always a good idea to review your current plan and pricing with what may be due. I don't know your specific situation, height, age, weight, etc. But you may be able to find a lower plan. Search Google Local.

I think that rates for health insurance increase more in a recession than in other times.

I think that more hospital and medical bills go unpaid in hard times. But medical professionals still have to operate and provide care in emergency situations.

When people don't or can't pay for their care, the hospitals and doctors have to raise their rates for those who do pay. This raises insurance rates.

Hi elizabeth

I fully agree with Alston. But if you are looking for a lower premium get in touch with an agent and let him help you with your insurance search. But make sure that all that you want covered is covered by the policy with a lower premium.

It is an unfortunate situation really. Due to the implementation of the new ‘health care reform’ law, it has become mandatory for every citizen to purchase health insurance. Some health insurance companies are using this is a pretext for raising their rates by a substantial margin. Current statistics show that a middle aged, non-smoking, non-obese, healthy male who had been paying a monthly premium of $333 is right now paying $512 after the law came into effect. Right now, the best idea would be to go shopping for a more affordable health care plan. Consult a good agent and he will surely be able to help you out.
